Knowing your custom cabinet options and costs for kitchens is required if you’re planning to do a kitchen renovation project. You need to know the prices, options and costs of cabinets, flooring, and appliances for budgeting. For every kitchen project, a majority of the budget will go to cabinetry. You need to educate yourself about the different cabinet types available in the market. There are three main types: stock, semi-custom and custom cabinets.

Kitchen Cabinet Types and Options

Stock
The first type kitchen cabinet is the stock cabinets. This kind of storage is commonly found at Home Depot and in several home improvement stores. The cabinetry is made and can be shipped the same day or within a couple of days.
Semi-Custom
Semi-custom cabinets, on the other hand, are partially made and allow the purchaser to add some personal touches or customization. Compared to the time and delivery of the product, semi-custom cabinets take longer to be delivered as added details will be added.
Custom Cabinets
Custom cabinetry is designed and made from scratch. It can be done with machinery, by hand or both methods. Custom cabinets should meet the buyer’s expectations. Often, the kitchen cabinets are designed with functionality and storage in mind. The amount of time the project will take can be several weeks to months depending on the size and complexity of the project. It also depends on how intricate the design, crown molding and finished will be.
Price-wise, stock cabinets come the cheapest compared to semi-custom to custom-built cabinets. According to an article from HGTV, stock cabinets may around $60 to $200 per linear foot; semi-custom cabinets will run you around $100 to $650 per linear foot, and custom cabinets must be quoted for each project.
